• Abstracts submitted for HSC Scientific Poster Conference must demonstrate scientific merit and novelty. They must not have been previously presented at HSC Scientific Poster Conferences.
  
• Ethical approval from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Kuwait University (KU), or other relevant regulatory bodies must be clearly indicated in the abstract (if applicable). If ethical approval was waived or not required, this must be explicitly stated.
  
• Abstracts must not contain tables, figures, or references.
  
• Authors are fully responsible for the scientific accuracy, grammar, and spelling of their abstracts.
  Poorly written submissions will be rejected.
  
• All submitted abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the Scientific Committee.
  

Style and Format:

• Character Limit:

  • The abstract must not exceed 2,500 characters (including spaces). Abstracts exceeding this limit will be returned to the author for revision. 

• For Original Research Abstracts, the following structured format is required:
  • Background/Objectives: provide a brief introduction to the topic, clearly outlining the research question or objectives.
  • Methods & Ethical Approval: Concisely describe the methodology and include a statement of ethical approval or indicate if approval was waived or not required.
  • Results:summarize the key findings in a clear and objective manner.
  • Conclusions: interpret the results and discuss their significance or implications.
  • Acknowledgments: mention any research grants, institutional support, or facilities used, if applicable.
• For Case Reports, use the following format:
  • Background: brief context or rationale for presenting the case.
  • Case Summary: a concise description of the clinical presentation, work-up, diagnosis, and management.
  • Conclusions: highlight the novelty and clinical relevance of the case.
  • Acknowledgments:mention any institutional support or assistance, if applicable.
  • Consent statement:a written consent is required if the case includes identifiable patient information or images.

Authors and Affiliation:

• One author may be listed on a maximum of six abstracts, with no more than two as a first author.
  
• If an author is listed as first author on two abstracts, they must assign a co-author to present one of the posters during the poster viewing session.
  
• For each abstract, clearly specify:
  
  • All authors’ full names
  • First/corresponding author*
  • Presenting author (if different from the first author)
  • The institutional affiliation of each author

* Note: The first author should also serve as the corresponding author, meaning the individual submitting the abstract online must provide their own contact details, not their supervisor’s.

• The order of authorship, including the first author, must be agreed by all members of the research group prior to submission. No changes to authorship will be permitted after the submission.
  
• For authors who are students, the affiliation must include the program or college and year of study (e.g., 3rd-year medical student). Students should not use supervisor's affiliation as their own.

• Complete all required fields in the submission form, and type or copy/paste your abstract content into the designated text fields.

Peer Review:

• All submitted abstracts will undergo peer review by the Scientific Committee.
• Evaluation will consider the following factors:
  • Scientific merit
  • Ethical compliance
  • Originality and novelty
  • Importance of the research objectives
  • Appropriateness of the methodology
  • Interpretation of results
  • Clarity and style of writing
• Corresponding authors will be informed of the review decision (acceptance, rejection, or revision request) within a few weeks following submission.
• If revisions are requested, authors must submit the updated abstract with all changes clearly marked using the “Track Changes” feature in Microsoft Word.
• Upon acceptance, award applicants will be required to submit a finalized e-poster, which will be evaluated by the Judging Committee to determine the winners.
