Student Transfer Regulations


  1. Any transfer to the College of Dentistry will be subject to availability of vacant seats, according to the approved transfer regulations. There will be no transfers if there are no vacant seats.
  2. Minimum Grade Point Average of 3 out of 4.
  3. Students must have completed 38 credit hours in the following science courses, with a grade of at least “B” in each course:

    • Chemistry courses (110 or 111) & 114
    • Physics courses (121 & 125) & (122 & 127)
    • Biology courses (101 or 103)
    • Mathematics or Statistics (except Finite Mathematics 115)
    • In addition to:
    • 10 credit hours in English courses or (6 credit hours in English courses + minimum 4 credit hours of Science courses taught in English such as Biology or Chemistry (except Mathematics, Statistics and Computer).
    • 6 credit hours of University elective courses.
  4. Required documents should be submitted to the Dean of Admission and Registration within the period specified in the announcement.
  5. Students shall be accepted in the third semester of the College program.
  6. Students must pass the English Proficiency examination for Transfer students with a minimum of 70% marks, administered by Health Sciences Center English Department during the month of September.

Note:

  1. Transfer applications will be accepted by the Dean of Admissions and Registration only if seats are available at the end of the first year.
  2. Priority for admission will be given to Kuwaiti students.

Transfer of students between Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry


The below mentioned regulations are applicable to current Medical/ Dental students who are admitted to Kuwait University from 2019 onwards.

  1. Minimum Grade point Average (GPA) 3.00/4.00.
  2. Students must have passed all assessments and final examinations of Phase II program with a grade of at least “B-”.
  3. Those candidates who wish to transfer between colleges should submit their applications to the Dean of concerned College at the end of second and third year.
  4. A joint committee of College of Medicine and College of Dentistry will scrutinize the applications and decide on the eligibility to compete for transfer, taking into account the number of applications received from both the Colleges.
  5. The eligible candidates have to appear for a personal interview by the concerned Colleges and successful performance in the interview is mandatory for considering the student for transfer.
  6. The transfer is allowed at the beginning of year 3 and year 4.
  7. There will not be any transfer to the clinical years.
  8. Students who have transferred between the Colleges will not be allowed to reverse the transfer.
  9. Students who were transferred into CoM/ CoD from other Colleges of Kuwait University are not allowed to apply for transfer between CoM/ CoD.
