Mission and Objectives


Mission


The Department envisages its role as a resource center of excellence for developing state-of-the-art psychiatric services for citizens of the state, producing distinguished psychiatrists, and fostering illustrious academicians in the field of Psychiatry.


Objectives


  1. Periodical review and reform of the Under-graduate curriculum
  2. Delivery of quality teaching programs meeting International standards
  3. Initiate quality research programs suited to local needs and incorporating both regional as well as international import.
  4. Promote Psychiatry as specialty for young graduates to pursue as the preferred field of specialization to meet the ever-growing needs of psychiatrists in the country
  5. Decentralization and de-stigmatization of the psychiatric services in the country
  6. Development of indigenous training programs to produce quality subject specialists.
