Dean’s Message


The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), Kuwait University was established as an independent faculty in 1982 and since then, it been progressing and fulfilling its vision and now it is regionally and internationally recognized as one of the finest in allied health education. FAHS is recognized as a member in The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP), USA. Two of the FAHS programs are accredited by the international accreditation sites; Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMA) for the Medical Laboratory Sciences program and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists for the Occupational Therapy program. FAHS mission is to provide accredited undergraduate and postgraduate education and trainings through the conduct of quality teaching and research to produce competent professionals who work side by side to serve in safeguarding human lives.


The field of Allied Health worldwide has more than 200 health professions collectively. These professions deal with some aspect of providing diagnostic, treatment and health management services, by using the leading-edge technologies. The FAHS takes great pride in the high quality of its academic programs which offers four year honors degree programs which graduates competent professionals in six different healthcare professions; Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine technology, Occupational Therapy and Health Informatics and Information management.


FAHS is in the process of introducing more programs as required by the health care workforce. The quality services provided by these Allied health professionals are needed now more than ever and many of the allied health professions are currently experiencing significant workforce shortages.


FAHS also provides higher education programs MSc. for Medical Laboratory Sciences and is in the process of launching four more MSc programs in Sonography, Molecular Imaging technology, Occupational Therapy, and Physiotherapy very soon.


Currently, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences graduate around 300 local and international undergraduate students per annum to join the workforce in various Allied Health professions. The FAHS is equipped with around 87 permanent academic staff members and about 20 plus non-academic staff members who are devoted to helping students maximize their learning potential by providing contemporary, state-of-the-art education.
