Environmental & Occupational Health




The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health will focus on education and research on the prevention and control of hazards that emanate from natural and built environments. It will emphasize promotion and protection of health in relation to: food; air; housing; institutional environments; land use; noise control; recreational bathing; radiation control; hazardous materials management; vector control; water quality; sanitation; hygiene education and emergency preparedness. It includes occupational health and safety, and workplace issues, including aspects of organization, management, education, enforcement, consultation, and emergency response capacity, as well as broader related health and social issues confronting workers and their families. It will include a focus on sustainable development, and the environmental and health impacts of climate change.
